Camouflage – Miguel Libarnes
Paintings, photographs, videos and installations are my means of expressing my point-of-view. I use times of conflict in my life to inspire works that make a statement about the injustice that is still all around us. Growing up as a gay male in the very Catholic, extremely traditional Philippines was not easy. Internalized homophobia and lack of self-esteem has been its most detrimental effect on me. It is a black heavy stone I carry around with me everywhere I go. I want to explore this issue through art. I want people to know that this is really happening all around the globe and I want them to take a closer look into why this is still an issue at all.
