India Joze – 418 Front Street

Joze, which opened in Santa Cruz in 1972, is now young in its fifth incarnation as a cafe at the 418 Project.
A pioneer in multi-cultural culinary respect, chef Jozseph Schultz and his operation have been profiled in the New York Times, Christian Science Monitor, Washington Post, Gastronomica, and all of the local media for decades, winning awards–including the first Gail Rich Artist of the Year Award for Culinary Achievement– and customers from all kinds of dining backgrounds.
Our continuously updated menu, online at http://www.indiajoze.com/order/menu.html , draws from Middle Eastern, South Asian, and SouthEast Asian traditions, with forays into food festivals, cooking classes, and high intensity cooking equipment and ingredients. Vegan and vegetarian, lamb, seafood, chicken dishes are always available in wide variety of spicings and preparations, as well as Joze own beverages–alcoholic and non– and desserts.
Our place is small and evenings can be a little noisy with all the dance classes and events in back of our building, but take out and catering is always available. The river is out our back door, waiting to expand our outdoor dining and picnicking resources. We stock re-usable stainless steel tiffin meal carriers. Order online for efficient service and get $1 off each entrée.
Cash only.
